WHY CORRUGATED CARDBOARD?

Corrugated cardboard often gets a bad rap, mostly known as packaging material that’s quickly discarded. Even as moving boxes, it can disappoint with torn handles or bottoms that give way.

So, why do we use corrugated cardboard for furniture?

The answer is simple: Not all corrugated cardboard is the same!

So, why do we use corrugated cardboard for furniture?

The answer is simple: Not all corrugated cardboard is the same!

AVANA CORRUGATED CARDBOARD

Corrugated cardboard is made up of multiple layers of paper bonded with starch adhesive to form its distinctive shape. The combination of smooth and wavy layers results in a lightweight material with exceptional rigidity. The strength of the cardboard depends on the quality of the paper used. In typical shipping or moving boxes, the paper is usually light and inexpensive.

For our cardboard furniture, we use only high-quality AVANA corrugated cardboard. Strong kraft papers, weighing up to 300 g/m², are laminated together in multiple layers. For comparison, regular copy paper weighs 80 g/m². The use of durable kraft paper makes our furniture highly resilient, even resistant to liquids, ensuring long-lasting quality. Our material can do far more than you might expect as our cardboard beds are able to support many times their own weight. The combination of top-quality paper and intelligent design ensures the stability of our cardboard furniture.

CORRUGATED CARDBOARD HAS EVEN MORE TO OFFER

It’s not just the stability that impressed us - corrugated cardboard is also an incredibly eco-friendly material. Made from 54% to 80% recycled paper fibers, it is 100% recyclable. Even the waste produced during manufacturing can be fed back into the raw material cycle, allowing for zero-waste production.

As a hygroscopic material, corrugated cardboard absorbs and releases moisture from the air, helping to regulate room climate. Its sound-absorbing qualities also enhance room acoustics, making it especially valuable in office spaces.

Corrugated cardboard is highly versatile: it can be decorated, colored, and customized, providing endless creative possibilities.

And one major advantage makes corrugated cardboard a true game changer in furniture design: its lightweight nature! Cardboard furniture is a fraction of the weight of traditional pieces made from wood, metal, or composites. This makes rearranging your space easier and moving a breeze - you can even carry it yourself!
